Company History

B&A Scaffolding Ltd was a joint venture undertaken in May 1987 between Alan Reid (Director) and Bryan Forrest (Director/Company Secretary), who have both worked in the Scaffolding Industry for over 35 years. They originated from Newcastle and having worked on contracts as far afield as Dumfriesshire.

They founded the company in Kingston upon Hull, as this was the area which they felt would benefit the most from their expertise. The company was originally based in a small yard on Caroline Street and over the years expanded into the premises which they now occupy on Therm Road, Cleveland Street, Hull. The building and yard were purpose built and the company moved into the premises in January 1991.

Over the years B&A Scaffolding Ltd have provided scaffolding services in both the private and public sectors. Jobs have included work in Construction, Petrochemical, Industrial Areas and also Repairs/Restoration Projects as far afield as Lincoln and the York area.

Apprenticeships

We have a commitment through our apprenticeship program to continuously bring new scaffolders into the industry. The training, qualifications and experience that we offer as an NASC member are recognised throughout the world.

Successful candidates of the Construction Industry Scaffolder Record Scheme are awarded a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). These are both held in very high regard within the industry and offer full registration to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) - the industry's largest skills register, the benchmark for skills quality. As an NASC member, we offer this training which involves periods of on-site experience, courses in training centres and an outward-bound course.

Access and Scaffolding systems require comprehensive knowledge of how specialised fittings and units are put together to erect a technically sound, safe and effective platform for people to work and construct from.

This scheme allows you to undertake your training on site, getting first hand knowledge and experience from the people you work with. Every three to six months you will be sent to one of the nine training centres in the country to complement the on-site training that you have done. In total you will probably spend 11/12 weeks, over two years, at the training centre.
